When my son got an autism diagnosis 12 years ago, we found Kidz Aware charity. I can’t count how many times they helped us and are still helping. Gillian Archbold and Sabrina Archbold are wonderful ladies and provide amazing service and support to families with disabled children in the Wakefield area. They have a huge impact on such families as our wellbeing. Gillian and Sabrina have helped me with finances, housing and to apply for government support, they are helping us to this day with any issues in our everyday life, whenever I need help, they are the first ones who comes to mind and are always ready to help. May God bless them and keep safe!

Oh my, where do I start? I have known Gillian for 35 years since my daughter was diagnosed with Cerebral palsy. Gillian was my lifeline then and still is to this day. She has loved and supported myself and my daughter for all these years. She’s helped me fill out forms for whatever my daughter has needed as her needs changed over the years. She’s always at the other end of the phone. Since she formed Kidz aware, I’ve attended courses which led me to go back to education gaining a diploma in social sciences. Gillian has helped me get the transport needed for my daughter to further her education too at Barnsley college quite a few years ago. I try to attend some of the events Kidz aware put on like the tabletop sales, helping to declutter her office and raising funds for them at the same time. Christmas parties are the absolute best x. In my opinion, Kidz aware have so much to offer disabled kids/adults and their families and are often a lifeline for so many. If anyone deserves more funding to enable them to continue the fantastic work, they do then it’s this amazing charity, Kidz aware.

Kid Aware Charity have been a lifeline for me and my family and they go above and beyond to help in every matter, not just mental health and disabilities. They support all the family unit. They go above and beyond; they are a vital service to us as a family due to being a fully neurodivergent family. Kidz Aware have helped us with audio communications and always been there for us to ring if we need referrals or advice, they have always been very supportive with everything we have needed and asked of them.

Kidz Aware have been an extremely helpful and informative group of people who have assisted with help and informal information to help me and my son who has ASD and ADHD. Through this I was able to obtain a EHCP for the extra help in school. Sabrina and Gillian have also acted on my behalf at school when the school wasn’t following its EHCP plan. Any information I need help with, Gillian and Sabrina will help or guide you were to access the information I need to help my child as well as myself.

My family was at breaking point when I contacted Gillian. She is so helpful & knowledgeable about the help and support available depending on each individual’s needs. She offers brilliant advice and is well-equipped to offer advice & offer support in the required areas.

Hello my name is Raymond a few years ago I was a mess stressed depressed rundown struggling and needed help not just for me but my family too, but if you look at me now you wouldn’t believe that I was in that situation. The reason Kidz Aware, the team there, helped me and my family get back on my feet. I owe them a lot. I’m not struggling now and holding it together. In my heart, I wish I could win the lottery so I could reward them as they deserve. When I can, when visiting the supermarket, I put donations into the food banks to help people like I was. Just want to say a quick thank you for all the continued work you do supporting families like mine, the support/help you all provide. The holiday activities with picnic food/activities/games included. The free tickets you get almost yearly for the CitiusTech tickets we got this year for the Theatre and all the parties for Easter and Christmas every year too with a Visit from Santa. Also thank you for the help over the years with supporting me to fill forms in for help in schools for my children/being an advocate for me and my children when schools weren’t committing to their needs and helping with Dal forms and generally being there for a shoulder to lean on when things get hard, and we need a chat. Kidz Aware have helped me and my child now for around 3 years, I feel happy to contact them with any issues regarding my child at school or out of school. I have referred other friends struggling to Kidz Aware as well. I find Gillian really nice to get along with and confide in her with several problems regarding my own mental health and depression. My child has ASD (PDA) and sensory processing disorder. I also access courses run by Kidz Aware which I find very helpful to understand my child.
